Hello! I’m Farzana Akter, lecturer in the department of ICT at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Bangladesh (BDU). Before joining BDU, I taught at Daffodil International University. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Jahangirnagar University. 

Since the beginning of my university life when I first had the opportunity to discover the nature of technology, I’ve been curious about various aspects of life. I learned the way of thinking about how best to solve a challenging problem and having the imagination to see the world differently. This phenomenon helps me to inspire others to explore the adventure of learning and thereby motivates me to pursue teaching as a career.

I always strive to build a positive relationship with my students so they can build a positive relationship with their education. While designing courses, I take my students’ cultures, skills and learning styles into consideration. My professional goals are to identify the learning gap and ensure the optimal degree of equity among the students. A good educator, in my opinion, should aspire to learn new skills, which means not only learning new subjects but also maintaining an open-minded, optimistic outlook about the world’s evolving nature. As, despite the abrupt turn away from the classroom due to this Pandemic, like many others, I’m also trying to foster my teaching approach by adopting e-learning and believe this shifting of technology-mediated teaching would keep a great impact on my students and their learning process.

However, the classroom is not the only place for teaching and learning.  Supervised research opportunities also engage students, and in this vein, I endeavor to supervise students’ research projects based on their interests. 

My passions include reading books, traveling and photography. History, mystery, and religion attract me the most. I believe my teaching and learning experiences have been more affluent with these hobbies.
